Meet and Greet
Jan. 19th, 2024 12:12 pmI'm super excited to have everyone here! Since people might not know each other, I'm putting up this post for intros.
Name/ what types of books you like to read/ anything else you'd like to share? I think a lot of us run in similar circles (those being kpop rpf), but not always in an overlapping way. Do you have a favorite group?
If you haven't checked out the questions post yet, that's still open! It has some questions about what you'd like to read, and how you'd like the group to run in it.
I'll throw an intro comment under here as well!

Date: 2024-01-20 12:40 am (UTC)I love reading, I like most genres except for the you know typical white divorced university professor type of lit. I enjoy other types of lit and a wide variety of sff and mystery and romance and so on. I am never up to date on the trendy books so I probably haven't read anything that came out in the past few years and was popular on booktok. These days I'm often reading very old books (like available on Gutenberg era books) and c-novels.
I recognise most of you from kpop lol! The Boyz are my ults but I love being a multi, I follow a really broad range of groups. (Join us on

Date: 2024-01-20 01:25 am (UTC)I see I put the genres in the wrong post, so I'll put it here instead:
According to StoryGraph, LBGTQIA+ was by far and away my most read category last year haha. I'll read just about any genre but I probably read the most literary fiction, SFF, nonfiction, with some thrillers/horror sprinkled in. I find myself avoiding the 'chick lit' books and historical fiction set during WWI/WWII in Europe or the US. (Conversely, would love to read more historical fiction that is not during those times.)
Spotify diagnosed me as The Boyz lover last year, but I still consider Seventeen my #1 group. Ateez rounds out my big 3. For girls, Twice are my steady favs, but I also find myself enjoying everything that Billlie and Le Sserafim have put out.

Date: 2024-01-22 08:02 am (UTC)also that's so interesting, I was curious about whether you'd say tbz or svt were your #1!

Date: 2024-01-21 04:37 pm (UTC)As for kpop, the group I am engaging the most with in a fannish way has been Stray Kids since they appeared on Kingdom. Music wise I'd say that Day6 are my favorites and as of a couple of weeks ago I have been digging myself deeper and deeper into the Zerobaseone rabbit hole! A couple of videos and whoops suddenly I was obsessed. They're all so darling!!

Date: 2024-01-22 01:38 am (UTC)I try to read somewhat broadly but my favorite and most-read genre is definitely fantasy! Lately I’ve been reading more nonfiction (specifically related to history) + books that are not fantasy because I really am trying to branch out. I’m also reading a lot of manga recently + am trying to get back into reading comics too.
Right now most of my fannish energy is being directed towards Seventeen but I also really love TXT, BTS, and Le Sserafim. I am also ZB1 enjoyer (altho I am Very Bad at keeping up with them lol)

Date: 2024-01-22 08:01 am (UTC)also I totally get branching out, I've been trying to do that recently too
it feels like there's sooooo much content for the zeebees, maybe because they're so new they're trying to do everything at once. do you have a bias?

Date: 2024-01-23 08:09 pm (UTC)I'm Kpopwinemom, though you can call me K, Kmac, or Kay. I don't super care.
I like to read...many things. I think I tend more towards fantasy/science fiction, but lately there's been more historical fiction too, and romance, women's fiction, literature...books in translation. I work as a bookseller, so I often read books for work, and I've gone back for an English Masters, so I'm reading for school, too. And then reading to cope.
I am a kpop person...Right now my favorite group is NCT Dream, which is hilarious, but I also adore Vanner, WJSN, Twice, Ateez, and many others. I am a terrible multi.

Date: 2024-01-25 03:24 pm (UTC)Reading-wise, I tend to avoid most books written by white cis men. My predilections are for mystery/thrillers, urban fantasy, and queer romances (I will read het romances, but only those that feature POC MCs.)
Current fave authors are Shari Lapena (messy domestic thrillers), Ilona Andrews (mainly urban fantasy), Charlie Adhara (Urban fantasy M/M), Silvia Moreno Garcia (a ton of genres, often focused on Mexican female characters), Mary Roach (nonfiction), KJ Charles (mostly M/M, some F/F historical romances).
I am slowly making my way thru danmei, biographies, and other random fiction too.
Although I do keep an eye on all of the new and popular fiction books, it takes me ages to pick newer stuff. It doesn't help that I don't feel FOMO, so there's that.
Am currently reading Nora Roberts' The Search (romantic suspense) and Marie Rutkoski's Real Easy (mystery). Looking forward to reading along all of you. 😅
As for Le K-Pop, BTS reigns supreme with a good 80% of my attention. The remaining 20% is split between a lot of girl groups, The Boyz, and a smattering
of boy groups like TXT, SHINee, & Seventeen.

Date: 2024-01-27 10:20 am (UTC)I read everything but mostly comicbooks and crime fiction. I tend to binge read, so I'm either reading a lot or nothing. There is no inbetween. But I will try!
I have a master's in English literature which means I've read a lot of books I didn't want to, so now I'm picking solely on ~vibes rather than worth. If it looks interesting, I will read it.
Some books I like: Emily Wilson's Odyssey translation, the murderbot books, all of Agatha Christie and most of Dick Francis.

Date: 2024-01-28 05:36 am (UTC)I totally get you on reading a lot of things you don't care for for an english degree. Is there anything you're reading right now/recently you've enjoyed?

Date: 2024-01-30 06:12 pm (UTC)storygraph describes my taste in books as "reflective, emotional, and challenging" fiction but i'll admit my stats are definitely skewed because a lot of it is for class. on my own i tend to read a lot of short stories especially, but i enjoy novels too and am making an effort to read more poetry these days!
in terms of kpop/rpf, i'm most invested in nct dream & zerobaseone but occasionally dabble in other groups as well.
really excited to get to know everyone and read cool books!
