I'm super excited to have everyone here! Since people might not know each other, I'm putting up this post for intros.

Name/ what types of books you like to read/ anything else you'd like to share? I think a lot of us run in similar circles (those being kpop rpf), but not always in an overlapping way. Do you have a favorite group?

If you haven't checked out the questions post yet, that's still open! It has some questions about what you'd like to read, and how you'd like the group to run in it.

I'll throw an intro comment under here as well!

Hi all, this is littlerhymes aka [personal profile] popliar! (she/her)

I love reading, I like most genres except for the you know typical white divorced university professor type of lit. I enjoy other types of lit and a wide variety of sff and mystery and romance and so on. I am never up to date on the trendy books so I probably haven't read anything that came out in the past few years and was popular on booktok. These days I'm often reading very old books (like available on Gutenberg era books) and c-novels.

I recognise most of you from kpop lol! The Boyz are my ults but I love being a multi, I follow a really broad range of groups. (Join us on [community profile] paradisediner if you like kpop...)

tullycat she/her for me!

I see I put the genres in the wrong post, so I'll put it here instead:
According to StoryGraph, LBGTQIA+ was by far and away my most read category last year haha. I'll read just about any genre but I probably read the most literary fiction, SFF, nonfiction, with some thrillers/horror sprinkled in. I find myself avoiding the 'chick lit' books and historical fiction set during WWI/WWII in Europe or the US. (Conversely, would love to read more historical fiction that is not during those times.)

Spotify diagnosed me as The Boyz lover last year, but I still consider Seventeen my #1 group. Ateez rounds out my big 3. For girls, Twice are my steady favs, but I also find myself enjoying everything that Billlie and Le Sserafim have put out.

Hi hi! I'm sleepypapercrowns but you can just say A (she/her). I've been having an intense queer sci-fi trend in my reading recently!! It's been a lot of fun. Generally, LGBTQIA+ was my top genre of last year (according to Storygraph) with fantasy, sci-fi ad contemporary being the next three. I also enjoy graphic novels but tend to shy away from historical books and dense non-fiction.

As for kpop, the group I am engaging the most with in a fannish way has been Stray Kids since they appeared on Kingdom. Music wise I'd say that Day6 are my favorites and as of a couple of weeks ago I have been digging myself deeper and deeper into the Zerobaseone rabbit hole! A couple of videos and whoops suddenly I was obsessed. They're all so darling!!

Hi all!! I’m bookishdagger (she/her), you can also call me vee :)

I try to read somewhat broadly but my favorite and most-read genre is definitely fantasy! Lately I’ve been reading more nonfiction (specifically related to history) + books that are not fantasy because I really am trying to branch out. I’m also reading a lot of manga recently + am trying to get back into reading comics too.

Right now most of my fannish energy is being directed towards Seventeen but I also really love TXT, BTS, and Le Sserafim. I am also ZB1 enjoyer (altho I am Very Bad at keeping up with them lol)

I love the variety of things you read! Poetry is a challenge for me, I like it when it's in front of me but I so rarely seek it out. Maybe you could do a round of poetry...

Hmm, there's a few reasons. I have SO MANY books on my TBR pile (both physical and ebooks) so it seems wasteful to buy a new book that will just get added to the pile. I'm also quite addicted to buying second-hand and looking for bargains, so that naturally skews to older books too. And I enjoy talking about older books with my friends who are also into them, there are such fun little niche fandoms for authors like DK Broster and Rosemary Sutcliff, and for books like Kidnapped.

tl;dr I will definitely read a new book for a book club but left to my own devices I am busily trying to get through my TBRs of 10 years ago lol.

I think once Seventeen made it to my top spot, they've never left, even though apparently my writing since 2021 and Spotify would say otherwise 😂

Some thrillers I read last year and thought were fun: The Likeness by Tana French (this will require you to put aside your disbelief at the premise lol but I raced through the end), The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling (LGBTQIA), The Push by Audrey Audrain (I think I read it in a day). A quick scan of my previous years says: The Honeys by Ryan La Sala and Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (these also border the horror genre I would say).

Hi!

I'm Kpopwinemom, though you can call me K, Kmac, or Kay. I don't super care.

I like to read...many things. I think I tend more towards fantasy/science fiction, but lately there's been more historical fiction too, and romance, women's fiction, literature...books in translation. I work as a bookseller, so I often read books for work, and I've gone back for an English Masters, so I'm reading for school, too. And then reading to cope.

I am a kpop person...Right now my favorite group is NCT Dream, which is hilarious, but I also adore Vanner, WJSN, Twice, Ateez, and many others. I am a terrible multi.

Murderbot is so good! I need to catch up there. I also really loved Martha Well's Witch King.

Do you have a favorite poem?

Ateez is so good...I have been lucky to see them twice and they are one of my favorite groups live!

I love your taste in books :) obviously I've been pulling from it a lot recently to entertain myself...I'm now on book 4 of Felix Castor? I seriously don't know how. I adore Juliet!

Oh my God you have excellent taste. I also adored The Honeys, Mexican Gothic, and The Luminous Dead. I've never heard of The Push but those others are so immaculate I'm immediately going to look it up.

I never thought of LGTBQ as a genre lol, but if that counts that is most of what I read, too!

It's so good! It's been one of my favorites for years and years and years, though I took a few years off from reading it before finishing like...11 volumes in a day. It's like, half a cookbook, so it's generally a pretty quick read.

I love whenever you post about being in the bookselling business.

And I like seeing your booklists, it's so handy to see what is coming up and being buzzed about.

Oh there are sooo many!! I think my two favorites from last year where a Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine (f/f) and To Be Taught If Fortunate by Becky Chambers (poly). But I read a couple more that I also loved: Light from Uncommon Stary by Ryka Aoki, Winter's Orbit and Ocean's Echo from Everina Maxwell and of course This Is How You Lose The Time War by Max Gladstone and Amal El-Mohtar! My favorite graphic novel On A Sunbeam by Tillie Walden is also queer sci-fi. Sorry that was a lot haha.

For the zeebees I did not watch the survival show but then a friend got into them and I still somehow didn't care and then there was this wednesday, it was after work and suddenly I had learned all their names and opened a door into my heart, lmao. Idk why it worked but it did! I think one of the first videos I watched was a Studio Choom behind the scenes one.
