A fair amount of books have been suggested over on this post for our first book, and so I'm capping suggestions to open voting.

Ideally I'd like to get a book a fair number of us are interested in that no one has read before. If you could fill out this form, that would be great! I'll close this in a week (2/2), and make a new post with the results when it's closed.

If you'd like to see the full list of titles (with summaries and genres), I've collated that here.

Additionally, it seems like we're about evenly split on bookclub format (guideposts along the way vs. one ending wrap up discussion), so I'm proposing an optional check ins 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through the book, and a larger discussion at the end of the book! That would take place over the course of 2 months. Please let me know if this would not work for you. I would also ask for questions to submit to the group at the 2/3 mark, as several people mentioned they'd have fun with them for a jumping off point.

Let me know if there's anything else on your mind!

Hello, I may join depending on if I have easy access to the books selected (I'm trying not to buy any more books at the moment...). Commenting here re the check-in posts, just to say that I ran a book club for Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series over on [community profile] tar_valon in case it's of interest to you to check out those entries (everything is linked in the sticky) just for like format? It's different because it's a series of 14 books and while we did book/month we also took hiatus months because those are really long books so overall we were at it for almost two years :D Because of the book length we also had three discussions points, one after prologue and ch1, one at mid-point and final at the end. The one thing I think would translate well to a more general book club is a) get different people to host different books and their discussions so you personally don't get overworked, and b) have some optional prompt questions. Hope this takes off!

I did some spot checking from the form and my local library and quite a few seemed to be available... :)

Love this!! Filled out the survey and can't wait to get reading <3 go team! (And optional check-ins sound great to me — I will definitely be contributing questions too.) (Also, to Kat's point below, I'd gladly host a book sometime if you want help running a particular discussion!)
